Monthly Lunch and Learn offerings champion new experiences, friendships
Community members are invited to take advantage of monthly “Lunch and Learn” sessions on the first Thursday of each month at Ohio Living Lake Vista. As part of the campus’s commitment to lifelong, continuous learning, Lunch and Learn sessions feature a unique speaker, hearty lunch spread and talkback session for participants to discuss what they’ve learned together.
“We started this series last October and so far, have seen a fantastic response from the Cortland community,” said Denise Rubano, Ohio Living Lake Vista independent housing manager and event coordinator. “People are thrilled to have an opportunity to come together and learn something new. So far, we’ve planned a wide array of engaging programs, from sound meditation to the history of the wedding table!”
The next Lunch and Learn event is slated for Thursday, Aug. 3, from 11 a.m.-noon, in the Ohio Living Lake Vista clubhouse and will be centered on Ohio’s Train Disasters. Author Jane Ann Turzillo, who penned a book on the topic, will present, and lunch will follow her presentation. Cost is $10.
“You’re never too old to learn,” emphasized Rubano. “I truly believe that people are craving new knowledge and opportunities to widen their horizons but aren’t always proactive to seek out such opportunities. Back in April, we hosted a Lunch and Learn session focused on crystal healing. It was our largest attendance to-date, with attendees traveling from across the state to participate. I really enjoy reading and researching current topics, and hearing feedback from those who join us, so we can continue to make these top-notch Lifelong Learning sessions.”
