July 2023 Employee Spotlight: Tamara S.

For nearly ten years, Tamara S. has extended compassionate care to Ohio Living Mount Pleasant residents. Her Ohio Living career journey started in housekeeping and shifted in 2019, when she completed the STNA certification process to become a certified nurse’s aide. Today, she supports independent living residents and passes her wisdom along to new employees as a culture-carrier.
“ In assisted living, the goal is to let the residents be as independent as possible,” explained Tamara. “I help them remain independent while also providing the care that is necessary, whether that be a friendly ear, errand runner or puzzle companion. The most rewarding thing is making my residents smile and feel welcomed. I get to know their likes and dislikes, and this helps with the care I provide.”
Tamara enjoys seeing others succeed and helping people. “This is a job for someone who is caring, loving and patient,” she said. “Ohio Living Mount Pleasant is my second home, and I really enjoy my co-workers, who have become a second family. My upper leadership is highly engaged here too. They truly care about my life and facilitating a thriving work environment.”
Outside of work, Tamara enjoys shopping, traveling and spending time with horses, her favorite animal. She has been happily married for 22 years and has a 21-year-old daughter and a beloved 13-year-old pit bull.
