July 2023 Resident Spotlight: Jackie and Mike Mueller

Get to know Jackie and Mike Mueller, who have been Ohio Living Mount Pleasant residents since 2018, in this month’s resident spotlight. The couple met at Lakota West High School while Jackie was working as an educational assistant and tied the knot, combining their beautiful families.
“ I decided to go back to school and was working full time, while having four teenagers at home (two of my own and two from Mike’s previous marriages),” said Jackie. “I studied special education, as both of my children have Down syndrome. Now, they are both living independently.” Jackie retired from teaching in 2015 and went to work at Delhi Flower and Garden Center for another six years before retiring in 2022.
Mike and Jackie enjoy traveling, and this year they plan to visit Scotland! Jackie also likes to garden, read, and visit with her wonderful neighbors and friends here at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant.
“My greatest accomplishment was seeing that my children have become independent adults,” gushed Jackie. “They both work and give back to the community and are good role models for others who are either physically or mentally challenged. I am so happy that we moved to Ohio Living Mount Pleasant when we did! It has freed us up to travel and not worry about our home. The people here are very caring and giving, and I've made some wonderful friends. There are many activities to choose from, and you can be as involved as you want. I look forward to becoming more involved now that I've finally retired for good!”
A fun, surprising fact about Jackie is that she is the “fix-it person” in the family. Among her many talents, she can take most things apart to repair and put them back together again!
