Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice in greater Cleveland has received a grant from the Western Reserve Junior Service League. This grant, totaling $2,415, will sustain and expand the We Honor Veterans program for hospice patients.
We Honor Veterans is a program that trains hospice staff to be mindful of veterans’ specific memories and their impact on end-of-life experiences. Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice is currently a Level Three provider (out of four levels) of the We Honor Veterans program to help guide veterans toward a more peaceful ending, comforting those who suffer from physical or psychological trauma.
Specifically, this grant will fund the following:
- 25 flag display cases that are given to the family, to cherish the U.S. flag that draped the veteran’s casket.
- 25 commemorative bears that are service branch specific for the spouse or next of kin.
- 12 Hometown Heroes banners which are custom printed for the veteran and flown in Willoughby.
- Service branch specific miniature flags which are given to the family at our annual memorial service.
