A host of resident artists from Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber submitted pieces in the annual 2023 Opening Minds through Art (OMA) contest. With more than 464 submissions from the United States, Canada and Indonesia, we are delighted to report that four of our assisted living residents received awards!

OMA is an evidence-based, intergenerational art-making program for people living with and without dementia that encourages participants to rely on imagination instead of memory and focus on their remaining strengths instead of lost skills. Funding from the Ohio Living Foundation supports this program at many Ohio Living life plan communities, including Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber, and allows for the continued growth of engagement opportunities for residents.
